Airport hydrogen supply feasibility

Brussels South Charleroi Airport

Challenge
BSCA needed a credible, independent view of how on-site or near-site hydrogen production could supply ground operations and future aviation use cases.
What Ionect did
Ionect ran a structured technology screening, scoped electrolyser sizing against airport load profiles, and built a techno-economic model covering capex, opex and offtake scenarios.
Outcome
A board-ready feasibility report giving BSCA a defensible answer on what to build, when, and at what cost, with the trade-offs made explicit.

European e-fuels refining capacity assessment

Transport & Environment

Challenge
T&E needed a technically rigorous, vendor-neutral view of European refining infrastructure's role in scaling e-fuels.
What Ionect did
Ionect produced an independent assessment of process options, capacity bottlenecks and realistic build-out trajectories, written to be quotable by policy and media audiences without losing engineering accuracy.
Outcome
A published reference report used in the European e-fuels policy conversation. Quoted: "Ionect's report gave us the technical clarity we needed."
Direct Carbon Immobilization pilot package, DOPS, Ionect project

Conceptual engineering · CCU startup

Direct Carbon Immobilization pilot package

DOPS

Challenge
DOPS was developing a Direct Carbon Immobilization process and needed engineering rigour to take the concept toward a pilot, without freezing options too early.
What Ionect did
Conceptual engineering: PFDs, mass and energy balances, equipment list, plot plan and a capex envelope honest enough to take into a fundraise. Modular so future feedstock changes don't force a re-design.
Outcome
DOPS now has the "guide rails", a clear engineering view of what to design for and what to leave for later.
Early-stage review of ammonia FPSO topside design, SwitcH2, Ionect project

Design review · Green ammonia FPSO

Early-stage review of ammonia FPSO topside design

SwitcH2

Challenge
SwitcH2 needed an early technical check of its green ammonia FPSO concept before locking in key feasibility-stage design choices.
What Ionect did
Ionect reviewed the FPSO topside design basis, PFDs, H&MBs, P&IDs, layouts, utilities and safety studies. We ran focused workshops on technology selection, FPSO integration and utilities, challenging marinization, operability, ammonia handling, module interfaces and safety philosophy.
Outcome
A clear design review pack with prioritized comments, critical risks and next-phase actions to strengthen the business case and de-risk the path toward the next engineering phase.
FEL2 engineering package for a DCI waste-to-methanol and power plant, EGA, Ionect project

FEL2 engineering · Waste-to-methanol

FEL2 engineering package for a DCI waste-to-methanol and power plant

EGA

Challenge
EGA needed to mature a novel Direct Carbon Immobilization concept from a promising process idea into a credible FEL2 basis for producing methanol and power from non-recyclable waste.
What Ionect did
Ionect developed the FEL2 project map and core engineering package: technology selection, process design basis, BFD/PFDs, process simulation, heat and material balance, equipment lists, layout inputs, safety inputs, vendor sourcing and more. We also assessed key process alternatives including feedstock pretreatment, gas treatment, compression, WGS, CO₂ capture, methanol synthesis, SOFC and heat recovery.
Outcome
A structured FEL2 package that clarified the plant architecture, technology trade-offs, scope boundaries and next-phase engineering priorities needed to support the investment decision.
Electrolyser design and commissioning, Accelera, Ionect project

Design and commissioning · Electrolysers

Technical support for electrolyser platform validation and field commissioning

Accelera

Challenge
Accelera needed experienced electrolyser support across two fronts: product development and system validation, and hands-on commissioning support at test and customer sites.
What Ionect did
Ionect supported product engineering, test, troubleshooting and validation closure. We also supported service and commissioning activities on-site, and practical field problem-solving.
Outcome
A strong bridge between engineering and the field: faster validation progress, clearer procedures and hands-on commissioning support backed by deep technical understanding of electrolyser systems.
